Thailand's Nightlife Restrictions Will Be Lifted In June

Thailand will resume regular hours for nightclubs and karaoke bars in June, according to a top official, removing the majority of the country's remaining pandemic restrictions as daily infections diminish.

Thailand's nightlife is a key tourist draw, but since the outbreak, most entertainment establishments have closed or been subjected to a harsh curfew, with several clubs compelled to change to eateries in order to stay open.

The administration expects that the recent relaxation of restrictions will aid in the recovery of the Southeast Asian country's devastated tourist sector, which accounted for around 12% of the economy prior to the outbreak. This year, Thailand expects 5 to 15 million visitors.

Starting June 1 entertainment establishments, pubs, massage parlors, and others may open till midnight. These businesses should pursue a universal preventative approach... employees must have taken booster injections and must take antigen testing every seven days, the spokesman of the Thailand Government said.

Thailand will also no longer require unvaccinated visitors to undergo quarantine beginning June 1. They'll have to either take a test when they arrive or demonstrate a negative COVID-19 test before leaving.
