Vietnam Is The First Nation In Southeast Asia To Fully Restore International Travel

Vietnam is one of just four nations in the Asia-Pacific region that have fully reopened their borders to the International traveler as of June 17, according to its Destination Tracker tool. International travelers entering Vietnam are not required to be quarantined, produce vaccination documentation, or have negative Covid test results, according to Ha Van Sieu, deputy chairman of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

International travelers are not required to make health declarations before admission, and the domestic tourism industry has recovered significantly since reopening, according to Sieu. Because many of the source markets have not yet fully resumed travel, according to Hwang, the Asia-Pacific region is recovering from the tourism slump slowly.

According to experts, the Asia-Pacific region's chances of recovery will likewise be delayed, possibly taking until 2024 to reach pre-pandemic levels.

On March 15, the government reinstated its visa waiver program and permitted quarantine-free admission for nationals of 24 nations, including Japan, South Korea, and some European economies. Prior to the pandemic, Vietnam welcomed a record 18 million foreign visitors in 2019. Vietnam hopes to welcome five million International travelers this year.
