The Number Of Tourists Visiting Cambodia Is Increasing Rapidly

With the threat of COVID-19 receding, the number of foreign tourists visiting Cambodia has increased dramatically, with 230,000 international tourists visiting in the first four months of this year, up 180 percent from the same period in 2021, according to statistics from the country's Ministry of Tourism.

The majority of visitors came from Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, as well as Europe, and the United States. According to data from the ministry, Cambodia is expected to welcome roughly 800,000 international tourists by the end of 2022, according to Cambodia's Khmer Times newspaper.

The ministry held a meeting on 'Strengthening the Implementation of the Road Map' with representatives from Cambodia's Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, the General Department of Immigration, the 25 provincial and municipal administrations, and the private sector to attract more foreign tourists and improve the efficiency of the tourism sector.

The Permanent Secretary of State for Tourism said at the conference that roughly 25 provinces agreed to continue organizing and developing new tourism products and places to serve both domestic and foreign tourists. At the moment, numerous places in the capital and provinces have teamed up to create joint packages that allow travelers to visit multiple locations.

Cambodia is promoting itself as a safe tourism destination with adequate COVID-19 control measures in place, such as the strict implementation of standard operating procedures to combat the pandemic while continuing to provide high-quality tourism services centered on hospitality skills and safety rules.
