Thailand Is Showing Very Strong Sign Of Recover In Travel

Searches for international flights have increased by 164% since 2022.

Thailand has long been a favorite destination for tourists, backpackers, and partygoers due to its stunning beaches, the busy capital city of Bangkok, and hospitable natives who are food obsessed. The number of people planning to visit the popular destination in Southeast Asia has steadily increased since nearly all COVID-19 travel restrictions abroad were relaxed in July. Travel trends and insights are shared by Sojern, a top supplier of digital marketing solutions for the travel industry, for an exciting new season.

Searches for hotels and flights to Thailand are increasing worldwide. About two million international visitors arrived in Thailand in the first half of this year, marking a steady recovery after the country's tourism sector nearly collapsed owing to the pandemic and more than 18 months of onerous and expensive entrance restrictions. International airline and hotel searches are up 164% and 111%, respectively, as of August 6, 2022, compared to January 1. In the weeks before Thailand's high season, which begins in November, all global areas show signs of improvement. In comparison to the beginning of 2022, Asia-Pacific has increased by 74%, EMEA by 67%, the US and Canada by 38%, the Caribbean by 27%, and Latin and Central America by 15%.

Although there are still many unknowns in the travel sector, these encouraging figures show Thailand is on track to reach its target of up to US$65 billion in predicted tourism revenue in 2020, an increase of US$3 billion from the US$62 billion pre-pandemic in 2019. Demand from both home and foreign markets for the Land of Smiles.
