Laos Has Stopped Testing Vaccinated Travelers and Has Announced A Complete Reopening.

Madame Thippakone Chanthavongsa, Government Spokesperson and Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, made the news live on social media.

The National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control and the government of Laos, she added, had cooperated with a variety of sectors to identify new entrance measures in keeping with the worldwide situation since the number of Covid-19 cases had drastically fallen.

After polling the public and consulting experts, the Taskforce has proposed the following measures for admission into Laos, which will take effect on May 9:

Citizens and foreign residents will be able to enter and exit through all international checkpoints.

Citizens of countries with which Laos has bilateral or unilateral visa waiver agreements can now enter the country without a visa.

Citizens of countries with which Laos does not have a visa waiver agreement can now apply for a visa at a Lao embassy or consulate abroad, or through the e-Visa online system. At some international checkpoints, visa on arrival will be resumed.

Foreigners who have been fully vaccinated or Lao natives who have a vaccination certificate may enter Laos without being screened or tested.

Non-vaccinated Laotians, travelers, and residents aged 12 and up must perform a Rapid Antigen Test (ATK) 48 hours before departure and produce the findings when they arrive.

If a foreign traveler to Laos contracts Covid-19, they are responsible for any medical costs associated with treatment.

Private vehicles can now enter and exit Laos through checkpoints, as they did before the outbreak. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport will draft and publicize guidelines for this measure.

Ministers and tourism agencies, as well as tourism enterprises, must now be fully prepared to welcome foreign tourists, according to Madame Thippakone.

She also announced the reopening of entertainment establishments and karaoke bars at the same time.

Simultaneously time, she announced the reopening of entertainment venues and karaoke bars; however, these places must ensure that all Covid-19 preventive measures are followed.
