Hanoi to Resume Tour Boat Services on West Lake

Hanoi is set to revive its tour boat services on West Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the capital, in a bid to boost tourism. West Lake has long been a popular tourist destination in Hanoi and previously hosted tour boats, floating restaurants, and other tourist services.

However, due to declining environmental standards and fire hazards, Hanoi People's Committee closed the lake's tourist dock in 2016, leading to the abandonment and decay of tour boats and floating houses. Last year, the authorities dismantled the abandoned vessels and restored the area to its original state.

West Lake is renowned for its historical relics, pagodas, and rows of restaurants and coffee shops, making it one of the city's most vibrant centers for international cuisine. Additionally, the area is home to a large expat community.

In an effort to further promote tourism in the region, city authorities are planning to launch various activities on the lake, including concerts, hot air balloon rides, paragliding, and a golf course.
