Cambodia Embraces Sport Tourism to Attract Visitors

Prak Vuthy, director of the Ministry of Tourism's overseas marketing and promotion department, anticipates a significant influx of international tourists, estimating numbers ranging from 250,000 to 500,000. The 32nd SEA Games will be held from May 5 to 17, followed by the 12th ASEAN Para Games from June 3 to 9.

In addition to these major events, Cambodia hosts several sporting activities that attract global visitors throughout the year. The Angkor Half Marathon in December and the Ultra-Trail Angkor in February have gained international recognition. Furthermore, the country is renowned for hosting various international cycling events.

Highlighting the appeal of Cambodia's southern coastline, Vuthy emphasizes the ample opportunities for water activities such as sailing and yachting. The country's stunning beaches and scenic coastal areas provide a perfect setting for visitors seeking aquatic adventures.

With its dedication to sport tourism, Cambodia is positioning itself as a compelling destination for travelers seeking a unique blend of cultural exploration and active experiences. As the nation gears up for these upcoming sporting events, visitors can expect an exhilarating atmosphere and an array of exciting activities that showcase Cambodia's rich sporting heritage.
