VIETNAM 2018 - Fixing the Wooden Sampans for Poor Families in Ben Tre

Vietnam's Mekong Delta is a water world that moves to the rhythms of the mighty Mekong, where boats, houses and markets float upon the innumerable rivers, canals and streams that criss-cross the landscape like arteries.

The wooden sampans are very important to the people living in Mekong Delta. Wooden sampan is a flat & small boat prominently used by local residents in the Mekong Delta as a means of transportation as well as earning their living by serving the tourists. Some sampans have been used for a long time, from generation to another generations, so they are worn out. However, there are some families are too poor to have enough money to fix or buy new boats.

That's why Aurora Travel & DMC staff at Ho Chi Minh branch organized a trip to meet a poor family in Mekong Delta and helped them to fix their 2 old sampans. It was a long and tiring day as we did the fixing works that we hadn't done before.

However, we are happy to see the grateful smile of people there as well as enjoy a short trip along the canals under the shade of green!
